How to fix offline printer issue,  HP printer keeps going offline, the computer does not talk to the HP printer, that s the common issue with any wireless printer.

However, sometimes, the printer may show an offline status, even though they are online.

This is indicated when the error message is displayed on the screen after hitting the print command.

 How to offline printer issue:

Method 1:

This method consists merely of resetting your computer.

  • Turn the printer off by button, and also by taking out its power cord.
  • Shut off the computer and then restart it again.
  • Insert the power cord of the printer too, before switching the PC and then turn it on also!
  • If your printer is wireless, turn off the wireless router and then turn it back on when restarting the PC.
  • The printer prints out fine now without the offline status message, you are good to go.

If not successful, try method 2.

Method 2:

  • From the Start menu, search for “Devices and Printers” and click it.
  • Under the label “Printer,” you can see a list of printers set up with your computer.
  • Double click on the printer showing offline status.
  • Now, if you click on it, a printer menu would be displayed.
  • Click on the option “Printer” in the menu and uncheck the option “Use printer offline.”
  • If this changes the status of your printer, you are good to go. If not, proceed further.

If it does not fix printer offline issue then try method 3.

Method 3:

  • Sometimes a printer is not set like that for default usage.
  • From the Start menu, search for “Devices and Printers” and click it.
  • Under “Printer,” you would see a list of all your printers currently attached to your computer.
  • If the printer you wish to use is not greyed out, meaning that it is active, you would need to the right-click it and click the option “Set as Default Printer.”

Method 4:

  • From the Start menu, try to search for “Programs and Features” or “Uninstalling a program” and click it.
  • Search for the HP printer software in the list and remove it entirely by clicking “uninstall’.
  • Restart the PC and now re-download the HP printer software from the “Software and drivers” or using the small disk that came with your printer.

Method 5:

Update your printer firmware. HP releases printer firmware updates occasionally.

  • You can get the updates from the HP website, or directly from your printer.
  • If your printer updates are switched on, your printer would already be up-to-date, and this method won’t be as effective anymore.
  • You don’t have to follow all of these methods if any one of these resolves the issue.
  • We don’t entirely guarantee that your printer would start printing again, as this article is only concerned with changing printer status.
