What is airplane mode in Windows 10?
Airplane mode gives you a short cut to shut off all wireless communications on your system.
For example, wireless communications like Wi-Fi, cellular, Bluetooth, GPS, Near Field Communication (NFC) and hotspot connection.
To select airplane mode on or off, click the Network icon on the taskbar, then select Airplane mode.
Airplane Mode lets you shut off all wireless signals going to and from your Windows 10 device; an example is Dell XPS, Surface Book, or any device that operates with window 10 OS.

When the need requires you to switch off all networks and wireless signals emitting from your Windows 10 device, you can do so by applying the following methods.
Apply hardware switch:
Most devices have a hardware button to turn on or off the airplane mode.
You can use that switch to turn off all the wireless signals from your device.
However, Microsoft believes that apply the hardware button may not necessarily disable all the wireless communications.
Some Windows Store apps have the capacity to bypass the hardware switch to connect to GPS or cellular data.
The best method, according to Microsoft, is to apply the Airplane Mode button available via Notifications in System Tray.
Apply Windows 10 Settings:
When the notifications menu does not pop up for some reason, you can use Settings to switch the airplane mode off or on in Windows 10. Follow these steps:
Click Start Menu
Turn on Settings
Turn on Network and Internet to open related settings on the left pane, you can notice Airplane Mode as the second option.
Turn on Airplane Mode in the left pane and then slide the switch, in the right pane, to the right so that it turns off under Airplane Mode.
The pane also outlines all the available wireless signals, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, that are now turned off automatically and greyed out.
