Printer email address and Claim Code

Where to find them and how to use them

HP printers come with a printer Claim Code that allows you to add your printer to an HP Smart account and enable you to take full benefits of its supplementary services such as Print Anywhere, ePrint cloud printing, HP Connected or HP Instant Ink. These services are used frequently by those who are generally away from the printer and need to execute the print jobs on the go or those who need replacement service without needing to visit the service center or HP Smart Care stores. Such is the convenience of HP products and their tasks, that users commonly find it a compulsion to sign up for such services. If you want to use the above-mentioned services for your personal demands or business, then you need to use the Claim Code to avail of the services. In this article, I will guide you on how to use the printer email address and Claim Code.

Before we begin, you need to take note that you do not need to create an HP account to make use of the basic printer functions such as printing, scanning or configuring the printer.

How to find the printer Claim Code

To find the printer Claim Code, you need to take a print of the Web Services Information page which is done from the built-in webpage of the printer. The steps are mentioned below:

  1. Try to take a test print by issuing the command to your printer from any linked computer. Please note that both the printer and the computer need to be connected through the same network.
  2. There is an IP address associated with the printer which should be available in its manual. Type the IP address in the web browser and the printer’s built-in webpage will open.
  3. Some alternate ways of finding the IP address of the website is:
  1. Touch the Wireless/icon from the printer’s control panel.
  2. Open the HP Smart app and select Printer Settings. Then, click the Printer Information.
  3. From the printed report of the network, touch information to print an information page of the printer’s network.
  1. From the website of the printer, look for the Web Services menu. Select the option Print Info Page or Print Information Sheet.
  2. On the page that prints, you should be able to find the printer Claim Code.
If in any case, you do not receive the Claim Code (the printer only prints the email address), then restart the Web Services of the printer. Now, the printer should give you the Claim Code.
  3. Now connect your printer to HP Smart using the Printer Claim Code.

If the Claim Code is not working and giving errors such as “Invalid Claim Code”, then restart the Printer Web Services and try again.

In case you receive the message that Web Services are already enabled, you should see a Web Services Summary info on your printer’s display. Press Print or Print Info to get your Claim Code. The address format is like- [email protected]. If yourclaimcode is abc, then abc is your Claim Code for the printer.

REMEMBER: Your printer must be connected to the internet for the Claim Code to work. If you are connected to your printer using an USB cable, then it is not sufficient to use the Claim Code.

  1. Print Info Page –> Does not print nothing and does nothing while printer is connected and all. This was bad.
