How to switch out of S mode in Windows 10
Windows 10 S Mode is a special security mode that prevents third-party application installations on your Windows operating system and strengths the in-built security of your Windows installation. It also enhances the performance of computers that supports Windows 10 S Mode. If you want to install applications and programs that are not available through the Microsoft Store, then you will need to switch out of S Mode and run Windows in the default mode.
The process is quite easy and is outlined in the steps below:
- Use the Windows search bar to look for Settings.
- Alternatively, you can click on the Start button in the corner and select Settings from the main menu that appears.
- In the Settings page, go to Updates and Security.
- Then go to Activation.
- In the window where it shows Switch to Windows 10 or Switch to Windows 10 Pro, select the option Go to Store.
- Remember no to click the Go to Store option that appears next to Upgrade your edition of Windows option (if available).
- There will be a page called Switch out of S Mode. Click Get button on it.
- A message will appear confirming that you have switched out of the S Mode. Now you can continue installing external or third-party applications and programs on your Windows OS.
