How to switch out of S mode in Windows 10

Windows 10 S Mode is a special security mode that prevents third-party application installations on your Windows operating system and strengths the in-built security of your Windows installation. It also enhances the performance of computers that supports Windows 10 S Mode. If you want to install applications and programs that are not available through the Microsoft Store, then you will need to switch out of S Mode and run Windows in the default mode.

The process is quite easy and is outlined in the steps below:

  1. Use the Windows search bar to look for Settings.
  2. Alternatively, you can click on the Start button in the corner and select Settings from the main menu that appears.
  3. In the Settings page, go to Updates and Security.
  4. Then go to Activation.
  5. In the window where it shows Switch to Windows 10 or Switch to Windows 10 Pro, select the option Go to Store.
  6. Remember no to click the Go to Store option that appears next to Upgrade your edition of Windows option (if available).
  7. There will be a page called Switch out of S Mode. Click Get button on it.
  8. A message will appear confirming that you have switched out of the S Mode. Now you can continue installing external or third-party applications and programs on your Windows OS.
