Install the software to an Android device from the Google Play Store
To install McAfee software to an Android device from the Google Play Store, follow the steps below:
- First, download the McAfee Mobile Security to your Android device.
- Open the Google Play Store by tapping on its icon.
- Search the store for McAfee Mobile Security.
- Tap Install. Now, wait for the installation to complete.
- Open the McAfee Mobile Security app that you have just installed on your phone.
- Go through the End User License Agreement (EULA) and Privacy Policy Notice.
- Tap the Accept and Start Protection
- Wait while the configuration process is completed.
- Now you have to send an activation code to the Android device.
- Before following the steps below, note that you can also send the activation code from your computer.
- Go to https://www.mcafee.com/
- Click on My Account.
- Click on Sign In.
- If you have a registered McAfee account, type the email address and your password to login to your McAfee account.
- Click on Log In.
- If you do not have a McAfee account:
- Click on the button Register Now.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create your new account.
Note: Please use a long password with a combination of both letters and numbers for stronger security.
- Click on the login button to log in to your account.
- Now, click on
- Click on Add Device to add your new device.
- Select Mobile Device.
- Click on Send Link. After that:
- Select the type of your Android device.
- Select the type of your McAfee subscription.
- Click
- Under How should we send the link option:
- Choose the option Text it to have the activation code sent to your phone by message or SMS.
- Choose the Email option to have the activation code sent to your registered email address.
- Now, type the email address or the phone number where the message will be delivered.
- Click on Text me or Send email to confirm your selection.
- Now, activate McAfee Mobile Security.
- Open the email or the messaging app on your Android device.
- Search for the message that has been sent by McAfee. The message will contain your activation code.
- Now, open Mobile Security.
- Tap on the User icon in the top-right corner of the window.
- Tap on Got an activation code.
- Type the activation code that you received through email or SMS.
- Wait while the activation process completes.
- Now, you need to create a six-digit PIN and confirm it.
- Choose your security questions for tightening your security.
- Type the six-digit PIN that you had created and then:
- Select two security questions.
- Provide the correct answers to those security questions.
- Tap on Save to save your questions and answers.
- Tap Activate Uninstall Protection.
- Then, tap on Activate again.
- Then, tap Finish.
Install the McAfee on the phone device from a different phone device
You may follow the steps below to use the McAfee software on a secondary device, or a child device while keeping the primary device as your mother device. For instance, you can send an installation link to your child’s device from the primary device and then let the child’s device click on the link to install the product on their smartphone or tablet.
To do the same, follow the steps below:
- Go to https://www.mcafee.com/
- Click on My Account.
- Click on Sign In.
- If you already have a McAfee registered account, then enter your email and password to log in to your account.
- Otherwise, you need to register for a new account.
- Click on Register Now.
- Follow the prompts on the screen to complete the procedure.
Please use a combination of both letters and numbers to form a strong password for better and enhanced security. - Click on Log In.
- Now you need to send a download link to your secondary device.
- Go to My Account and then click on
- Click on Add Device.
- Select the Mobile device
- Click on Send Link, then select the Android device type and the subscription type of your McAfee product.

- Now, under the How we should send link option:
Choose Text it if you want to receive the link in the form of an SMS.
b. Choose Email it if you want to receive the activation code by email. - Type your email address or your phone number, whichever you chose from step 12.
- Click Text me or Send email as per your preference.
- Now open your email or your message app on that Android device.
- Search for the message that has arrived from McAfee. This message contains your download link and an activation code for your McAfee product.
- Tap the download link to begin the installation of the McAfee software.
- Once it completes, open McAfee Mobile Security.
- Tap the User icon on the top-right corner of the screen.
- Tap Got an activation code
- Now enter the activation code that you have received through email or message.
- Wait for the activation process to complete.
- Now, create a six-digit PIN and confirm the PIN.
- Tap the orange circle which is located on the right side.
- Set your security questions.
- Enter the six-digit PIN again, and then select two questions, and give their answers. Tap on
- Tap Activate Uninstall Protection.
